A law school graduate and former public defender, Onawa transitioned from courtroom advocacy to grant writing, driven by the urgent need to bring resources home to Native communities. Today, she is the CEO of Hozhonigo Consulting, founder of a national nonprofit, and creator of the Tribal Funding Registry — the first digital platform of its kind designed to democratize access to funding for Tribal governments and Native-led organizations.
